That's a pic of the white spring sachs shock from an early mille. If thats the one you've got and plonked it into the Falco linkage then you should be ok.

If you've got the yellow spring sachs or Ohlins from a later mille you need to use the corresponding linkage. IIRC using the stock Falco linkage can cause low rideheight issues.

i'm allmost certain it's the yellow spring, not 100% though as rich had it powder coated red. i have fitted it with mille linkages and dog bone. the base of the shock is different to the one in the pic though.

That Rich is a sly one .... scrape off a bit of that powder coating on the spring and you'll probably find Blue underneath ......

The next identifier is the shock colour Gold for later black for earlier.

The reservoir on the older ones stick out and get very close to the rear subframe.

From what you've said though, sounds like you've got the newer sachs and linkage to match so shold be ok.

Flyingkiwi's pic is still valid for adjusting the ride height, just don't go too far IIRC there's a line thet you shouldn't extend beyond.

Also make sure the sag is set correctly.

the top of the shock is gold and the res is about 3/4 inch from the frame,at the base there are two adjusters one on top of the other that are on a ratchet when you turn them, are they the ones for ride height :smt017

Sounds like the yellow spring one - post up a picture showing all the adjusters and someone will confirm what's what.

Sorry to point out the obvious but...... why not just ask Rich and get the definitive answer instead of guessing :smt017 He's a decent bloke (in spite of his penchant for Red and the fact he supports LUFC).

and you're point about LUFC is?

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

Before you adjust the ride hight is the sag right? if it sags around 05-12mm unloaded and around 30-40mm loaded with rider thats about right :smt004 Then adjust the ride hight but get the sag correct first you may need a new stronger spring or grind down the one you have to achieve this. This alters the spring tension!
If you are a light rider you may get away with adjusting the spring pre-load. :smt002
Be prepared to modify your side stand because the bike will need it or carry a block around :smt009
Always expect the unexpected
