My brother sent me this link to a new bike stand developed in Oz.
Ripperton Bike Hoist
Now how can I make one, cheap!

Now that
IS good.
Bolt it to your garage floor and add some locking device for the bike and you've got a stand, stable working platform and secure parking all in one !
Got to be worth a bit of serious DIY
